VAWP Spring 2026 Newsletter: Fear to Hope 2026 Symposium

Fear to Hope at CNU continues to grow as a collaborative, community‑centered model that connects K–12 students, college students and faculty, environmental professionals, and local partners through hands‑on climate research and restoration. Now entering its sixth year, the program has expanded from its original focus on Atlantic White Cedar ghost forests into salt marsh and oyster reef restoration, engaging schools from Virginia to across the country and supporting student‑led research through classroom projects and fieldwork at Ragged Island Wildlife Management Area. The program will showcase this work at the 5th Annual Fear to Hope Symposium on April 20, 2026, celebrating student research, regional restoration efforts, and the shared power of education, collaboration, and hope.
